Lewis Café is a restaurant centered on tradition and family. Established in 1938, Virgil Lewis built the business on hard work and great service. Lewis Café has continued to operate with these principles throughout the years. In 1973, Fred and Marie Short
(Virgil’s nephew and niece-in-law) bought the restaurant. Fred and Marie worked tirelessly to make Lewis Café a place of great food and service, all while raising 4 sons who have each worked in the restaurant.
In 1995, Chris Short (Fred and Marie’s son) bought the restaurant and in 1996 began raising cattle. The Angus beef is raised locally without hormones or antibiotics, processed at Lewis Café, and served fresh to the customers.
In 2014, Chris and his older brother Kirk became partners in the restaurant. They are dedicated to Lewis Café remaining a family business and several of their children can be seen working in the restaurant in many aspects of the day-to-day operations. We at Lewis Café believe in the traditions started 3 generations ago and strive to serve the best quality food and offer superior service. In addition to the farm-raised Angus beef, Lewis Café prides itself in offering homemade pies and the very popular homemade poppy seed dressing to our customers.
The family and staff at Lewis Café welcome you and your family and wish you a wonderful visit with many happy returns.
Thank you for over 78 years of loyalty and friendship. We look forward to sharing many more with you.
